Report: Juventus may have an advantage over Spurs in race for attacker
According to a report in Tuttosport, Juventus may have an advantage over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Albert Gudmundsson as Genoa want one of the Bianconeri’s players.
Spurs raided Genoa for Radu Dragusin last month and it has since emerged that the North London club are eyeing another one of the Serie A side’s prolific talents in Gudmundsson, who has emerged as one of the most proficient attackers in the Italian league this season.
The 26-year-old, who can operate on either flank or in the hole in behind the centre-forward, has been one of Genoa’s main attacking threats this campaign, having scored 11 times across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Several Italian outlets (including Gazzetta dello Sport) have reported over recent weeks that Tottenham have ‘sent observers’ to Italy to study the 26-year-old and ‘have the money’ to make sure they ‘close the operation’ for him.

However, TuttoSport now suggest that Juventus are also keen on Gudmundsson and might have the upper hand in the race for the attacker’s signature.
This is because Genoa have their eyes on Juve youngster Enzo Barrenechea, who’s currently on loan at Frosinone, with the Old Lady thus said to be considering using the 22-year-old as part of a deal to sign the Iceland international.
However, the publication points out that such an operation is far from certain at the moment, with the Bianconeri also likely to receive some lucrative offers from Spain and England for Barrenechea.

Gudmundsson is the sort of versatile forward that Ange loves to work with and Tottenham might use the relationship they have built with Genoa to their advantage to get a deal over the line.
One would also expect the North London club to be able to financially outmuscle Juve if they are intent on landing the 26-year-old.
