Report: Spurs back in for player who previously thought they were ‘below’ him
When it comes to Tottenham Hotspur and long-standing transfer rumours, Adrien Rabiot is certainly one of those players.
Back in 2019, it was reported that the midfielder, who was playing for Paris Saint-Germain at the time would not entertain the thought of a move to Tottenham Hotspur because the north London club were ‘below’ his level (ESPN).
With his contract coming to an end Rabiot’s demands consisted of a €10m annual salary, large signing-on fee and long-term contract loaded with lucrative bonuses.
Instead, he made the move to Italy, where he has been playing for Juventus ever since and this summer will see him become a free agent once more.
Tottenham could be back in for Adrien Rabiot
Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Tottenham are one of the teams who are keen on the 28-year-old come the end of the season.
Rabiot is able to talk to overseas clubs about a free transfer with Ange Postecoglou’s side said to have ‘have positioned their radar’ on bringing him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to bolster their midfield options.
There is also interest from other Premier League clubs with North London rivals Arsenal along with title-chasing Liverpool keen on his services.
Rabiot earns €7m a year with Juventus and it’s hardly surprising to hear once again that money is a factor with Premier League clubs able to pay a ‘super salary’ which would better what he pockets at the Old Lady.

Ange Postecoglou is trying to build a first-team squad at Tottenham which is made up of not only the right players in terms of quality, but also those with the correct personality.
My gut feeling tells me that Adrien Rabiot is not the right person we would want, despite the fact that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp both need to be moved on this summer and replaced by those who can contribute more to the style of football which the Australian demands.
