Club director admits he ‘will have to evaluate’ good offers for 20-year-old Spurs target
Hammarby sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg has admitted that while the club are not actively looking to sell rumoured Tottenham target, Viktor Djukanovic, they will evaluate offers that come in for the winger next summer.
During last month’s transfer window, Spurs secured one of the brightest young talents in Swedish football in the form of Lucas Bergvall, who will link up with Ange Postecoglou’s squad in the summer.
It has since emerged that the Lilywhites have their eye on another emerging talent from Allsvenskan, with various outlets suggesting recently that they are plotting a move for Djukanovic.
The 20-year-old has netted 11 goals in 25 appearances since his move to Hammarby last year and it was reported by FotbollDirekt a couple of weeks ago that the youngster’s displays had brought him to the attention of Spurs.
The outlet added that the Montenegro international, who was allegedly valued at around £11.3m, is also attracting interest from the likes of Genoa, Bologna, and PSV Eindhoven.
Djukanovic is not in the shop window for cheap offers
Hjelmberg has now addressed the speculation over the youngster’s future, insisting that the winger will not be sold for a cut-price fee.
When asked if Djukanovic is in the shop window, the Hammarby director told Aftonbladet: “He is absolutely not and I have been quite clear about that as well, at the same time that everything has its price.
“Should there be a rudely good offer, we will have to evaluate it in any case. I don’t really want to say. But 5–6 million euros is not enough.
“You have a player in this as well who has ambitions, who wants to go to Europe. You need to explain how we think, that we think it might be good for him to stay.
“We also understand that he will not remain in Hammarby for three years. There will be a transfer, it’s just about the timing.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is clear that Johan Lange is the driving force behind Tottenham’s interest in the best-emerging talent from Scandinavia and the Spurs technical director’s connections might give the Lilywhites an advantage over other suitors, just as it seemingly did in the Lucas Bergvall pursuit.
