The cinch Championship so far
Dundee United are in pole position in the Championship after securing 14 wins this season with five of those home successes. Their lead at the top was reduced last weekend to one point after losing a last gasp goal to closest challengers Raith Rovers.
The Kirkcaldy men are one of two sides to have won at Tannadice in the Championship this season with Greenock Morton being the other. If Queen’s Park were to complete a hat-trick of away winners it will be their first success on the ground since season 1954/ 55 when they secured a 3-1 Division 2 win.
Queen’s sit seventh in the standings some 21 points behind United’s total of 48 but such is the packed nature of clubs outside of the play-off zone they could be anywhere between fifth and ninth come 5pm on Saturday.
Callum Davidson’s side played out a goalless draw last weekend with Morton and that point made it ten points from fifteen during the former St Johnstone’s manager’s time in charge. The Spiders can head north with some confidence as 17 of the points secured in this campaign have come on the road with recent wins seen at Raith Rovers, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dunfermline Athletic.
Queen’s Park striker Ruari Paton will be keen to pull level with Brain Graham at the top of the goalscoring charts again after the Partick Thistle man moved onto 12 last weekend – one ahead of the Irishman. Louis Moult at Dundee United may just be saying the same thing about Ruari as he sits on ten.
Squad News
Charlie Fox and Grant Savoury continue to be absent from full training however new recruit Cillian Sheridan has been added to the travelling party. Liam McLeish returned to B Team action this week after more than four months out with injury and he could head to Tannadice alongside Cameron Bruce who is available again after Scotland under-19 duty.
