GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Glenville man has been arrested following an investigation into dealings with his business, according to police. James Butler, 30, was charged with third-degree grand larceny.

Butler, who owns and operates the fencing installation business "Trust a Fence", is accused of stealing over $7,000 in cash from a homeowner in West Glenville. Police say the victim gave Butler the money to buy work materials, which allegedly were never purchased.

Police determined that similar accusations have been made against Butler in several communities. He is currently being investigated by the Glenville, Scotia, Colonie, Guilderland and Niskayuna Police Departments, as well as the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.

Butler was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Glenville Town Court at a later date. Anyone who believes they have been a victim of Butler is encouraged to contact their local police department to file a report.
