Too full for the early
Hello Friends,
The 1.7 metre high tide at 1020 was already damping the dead south swell by 0730 at Dee Why. Out at sea it was 1.4 m at 11 seconds as of 0500, so there is some energy in the system. Unfortunately most of it is out to sea. Wind was light WNW, which was making for clean conditions under the sunny skies. The wind’s due to go around to the SW later, so surface conditions should remain good all day long. Your best bet will obviously be the south magnets.
Tomorrow looks like being cloudy and onshore from mid-morning. Swell is expected to come up a bit, so maybe, possibly, there’ll be something for the early. From Wednesday onward the surf prospects look dim according to the swell models which are currently projecting only short period east wind bump through to Saturday at the least.
Have a good one!
Weather Situation
A trough over the far northern waters is weakening while a ridge of high pressure develops. A cold front passing to the south today will bring a south to southeasterly change to the southern half of the coast. After this, a stronger high pressure system is expected to reach the Tasman Sea, where it will become slow-moving, causing winds to tend north to northeasterly.
