Austin Fire battles blaze on South Congress

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Fire Department is responding to a structure fire along South Congress Avenue Sunday afternoon, officials shared on social media. The reported structure fire is located in the 4900 block of South Congress Avenue, which is just south of Battle Bend Neighborhood Park.

Officials shared on social media "smoke and products of combustion" are coming out of the affected building. Portions of the roadway will be closed as crews continue to fight the fire.

People are asked to avoid the area, with delays expected "for the foreseeable future." Austin-Travis County EMS is also assisting alongside AFD crews.
