Lake George's Winter Realms closes, Winter’s Dream sets last day
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Lake George has had a tough go for winter events over the past few years with warmer temperatures. This year, instead of Ice Castles, Lake George had two different winter attractions: Winter Realms and Winter's Dream.
Winter Realms was set in Charles R. Wood Park and had ice skating, sculptures, Santa Claus, and more. Winter's Dream uses light and projection technology to transform the inside of Fort William Henry into themed winter experiences.
Both attractions were scheduled to be open through March, but Winter Realms officially closed for the season on Sunday, February 25. Winter's Dream is having an end-of-season celebration for its last day on March 9.
Winter's Dream officials said more than 25,000 tickets have been sold to date. Even though Lake George continued to experience warm temperatures and a lack of snow, officials said the attraction had a positive economic impact on the area.
"I am pleased to note a substantial increase in business, particularly during the months of December and January, and have observed the positive impact of the Lake George Winter’s Dream Project on our community overall," said Yerbol Kenzhebekov, owner of Saluti Restaurant in Lake George. "The project has undeniably brought a welcome boost to the local economy during a time of the year when businesses traditionally face challenges."
For its last couple of weeks, Winter's Dream is open on March 2 and March 9, both Saturdays. You can buy tickets on the Winter's Dream website.
