COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A woman is recovering after suffering a head injury when she was reportedly kicked out of a moving car on the far east side of Columbus.
According to a police report, officers were called Saturday morning to OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital where a woman checked herself in with a severe head laceration. The woman told police that a man pushed her out of a moving vehicle the night before.
Police said that the woman and suspect, 32-year-old Jerode Perry, were arguing after leaving a bar late Friday night when Perry allegedly reached across her in the front seat and opened the passenger door. Perry then reportedly used his right foot to kick the woman and forced her out of the car, which was traveling at approximately 30 MPH near the intersection of Chatterton Road and Falcon Bridge Drive in the Walnut Heights neighborhood.
The woman’s head reportedly struck the pavement, and she lost consciousness. Upon waking, she told police she walked home, then checked herself into the hospital at 6 a.m. Saturday. Her injury above her right eye required 20 stitches.
Perry, who is charged with domestic violence and assault, faced a judge at an arraignment hearing Monday morning. He was issued a $25,000 bond and was ordered to have pre-trial supervision as a condition of said bond.
Dating back as far as 2016, Perry has been charged with domestic violence and assault three times (2016, 2018, 2022). Other charges have included aggravated menacing, criminal damaging and endangering, and possession of marijuana.
He pleaded guilty to domestic violence in 2016 and 2018. All other charges were dismissed.
