Vanessa Feltz recalls having no idea ‘who or where she was’ after horror moment on night out
VANESSA Feltz has recalled the terrifying moment her drink was “spiked” on a night out – leaving her with no idea “who or where she was”.
The TalkTV presenter, 62, revealed her own experience after discussing journalist Kate McCann being spiked by a “brazen” group of men who “didn’t care who saw” while on a night out with friends.
Vanessa Feltz has opened up about her spiking ordeal[/caption]On her TalkTV show this afternoon, Vanessa told how “impossibly difficult” it was to make it home in a cab, and said she felt the after effects of the spiking for almost 24 hours.
Vanessa said: “I could sort of disingenuously ask you about this as if I don’t know, but I do know because it did happen to me.
“I was in a bar in Streatham in south London, and I’m not a drinker, but I agreed to have an alcoholic drink because I didn’t want to have that whole rigmarole where you say, ‘Oh, no, I’ll just have a water or a Diet Coke’ and everyone thinks you’re a party pooper.
“So I said, ‘Yes, please’, but had one tiny sip of I think it was rum and a Diet Coke, and I, exactly as my colleague Kate McCann described, I immediately felt desperately disorientated, kind of lost track of really where I was and who I was.
“I managed to get home, just as she said, with great difficulty, just to keep my thoughts collected, to get myself out of the door and into a cab was almost impossibly difficult, and I was still feeling the effects, I remember all the way through the night, all the way through the following day and into the following night.
“It was incredibly dramatic as a result of one extremely small sip of a drink. So I know what it’s like. It’s horrid.”
The 62-year-old didn’t reveal exactly when the incident took place.
She admits not reporting the spiking to police.
“I’m among the many, many women who didn’t even dream of reporting it to the police,” Vanessa said.
“I must admit, I didn’t even think of reporting it because I didn’t know who’d done it, was the thing.”
