North Adams PD announces passing of retired K9
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The North Adams Police Department announced on Sunday that retired NAPD K9 "Chuck" has passed away. The police dog served the city faithfully from 2013 to 2018.
Born in Czechoslovakia, Chuck trained in narcotics detection and tracking for 160 hours alongside his handler Officer Al Zoito. He was retired in 2018 when Officer Zoito was promoted to sergeant.
Often seen at local school and city events, Chuck lived with Sergeant Zoito’s family until his passing on February 24. NAPD thanked the K9 for his service and said that he will hold a special place in the heart of the department and the community.
