Sylvester Stallone says he's leaving California for Florida
HOLLYWOOD (KTLA) – Another celebrity has announced plans to move from California. Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin Stallone have confirmed their intention to leave the Golden State for Florida on the second-season premiere of their Paramount+ reality show "The Family Stallone."
During the episode, the couple informs their three daughters of their decision to relocate to the Sunshine State. "After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided it's time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida," Stallone said.
Stallone purchased a 13,241-square-foot home in Palm Beach, Florida, for $35.58 million in 2020, according to the Palm Beach Daily News. "We're gonna sell the house," Stallone said to daughters, Scarlet, 21; Sistine, 25, and Sophia, 27. "We already have the place, it's a done deal."
Casey DeSantis, the wife of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, took to X to welcome the Stallones, and used the opportunity to share her own views on California. "Welcome to the Free State of Florida!" she posted. "In addition to respecting and protecting your God-given, constitutional right to be free, you can also buy toothpaste without having an armed guard in CVS unlock it for you," she wrote.
The couple decided to move from California because they became empty-nesters after all three of their daughters moved out of the family home, according to People.com. "I raised all three of our daughters in California," Jennifer Flavin Stallone said during the episode. "Everything's a memory to me, memories of them not being there anymore. So, I needed a big change and Sly went along with it."
Later in the episode, the "Rocky" actor admitted he was slow to agree to make the change. "We have a lot of roots in California, so it's not an easy transition to Florida," Stallone said in a confessional. "But, Jennifer really had her heart set on it. I gave in."
Stallone and his wife married in 1997. Jennifer Flavin Stallone filed for divorce in 2022, but the couple reconciled a short time later.
