2/29/24: Quick Warm-Up Friday

Latest Forecast Update from Meteorologists Steve Caporizzo & Rob Lindenmuth:

A much colder afternoon across the region today with temperatures remaining in the upper 20s and low 30s with wind gusts on the order of 25-40 mph providing wind chills in the single digits and teens. Mother Nature just reminding us that we are still in winter.

This cold air will be retreating rather quickly to end the work week with winds shifting to the southwest into Friday afternoon with decent sunshine expected. Temperatures will respond to the sunshine and warm into the mid to upper 40s for many.

A storm system developing in the southwest will be dropping into the Gulf States through Friday and will then take a trip up the east coast for Saturday. This will bring us showers and periods of rain to start the weekend, it will also keep our temperatures slightly cooler, but still seasonable.

Clouds out and about this evening will continue to push northward overnight and we will turn partly cloudy into Friday morning. Winds will also ease up and allow our temperatures to fall into the mid to upper teens.

Through the afternoon skies will turn partly to mostly sunny and temperatures will be quick to warm with a southwest wind and the sunshine, we are expecting temperatures to warm into the upper 40s to near 50.

Clouds will be on the increase Friday night and into Saturday morning ahead of our area of low pressure that will be tracking up the east coast through Saturday. As of right now, we think Saturday will start dry, but mostly cloudy with temperatures in the low to mid 30s.

As the afternoon wears on clouds will be sticking around and showers and periods of rain will be moving through the region. Winds will be relatively light, but with a flow off the ocean, temperatures will remain in the low to mid 40s.

Behind this storm system we are going to get into another warm stretch of weather for the second part of the weekend and into the first part of next week. Partly sunny for Sunday with temperatures warming into the upper 50s to near 60. Likely well into the 60s, breaking a record for Monday. Remaining in the 60s for Tuesday, but then we do turn a bit unsettled for Wednesday into Thursday with temperatures sliding back into the 50s and eventually 40s with showers and periods of rain into Thursday.
