Brunswick man pleads guilty to attempted burglary

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office announced that a Brunswick man has pled guilty to multiple charges stemming from a burglary incident that took place last summer. Curtis Knockwood, 25, admitted to second and third-degree attempted burglary, resisting arrest and overdriving, torturing and injuring animals.

According to the RCDA, Knockwood attempted to steal from a home in the Emerald Greens area of Troy on July 5, 2023. After being discovered by the home owner and fleeing the scene, Knockwood was caught by Troy Police K9 partner Norbi, who Knockwood reportedly stabbed 12 times during the altercation.

District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly stated "We are thankful K9 Norbi and his handler are pleased to share that he has made a full recovery."

The RCDA stated that Knockwood is expected to receive five and a half years in state prison, five years of post-release supervision and one and a half to three years for his parole absconder status when he is sentenced on April 22.
