Marshall: We’re In A Good Place

0

Hibs goalkeeper David Marshall insists the squad are well prepared ahead of our cinch Premiership clash with Ross County on Saturday.

The Hibees come into this one off the back of an improved run of form, which has seen us beat Dundee at Easter Road and pick up a points on the road at both Pittodrie and Tynecastle.

The most encouraging thing for Marshall is that the performances have improved, and the Hibs no.1 is eager to build momentum this weekend as we approach the run-in to the season.

“We’re in good shape, we are disappointed that we never won on Wednesday night but we can take confidence that our performance levels are there. You are starting to see the new signings get some more match fitness and some minutes under their belts and we have looked good.

“We’ve picked up some good points, we’ve beaten a direct rival in Dundee last week and performed really well on Wednesday. We need to make sure we make these upcoming games count because these are some of the games that we have previously slipped up in this season.”

Marshall explains what he thinks the recent upturn in performances is down to.

“The Manager and the staff made a lot of changes in January, so it has probably taken the new signings a couple of weeks to get up to speed.

“You can see the impact that Emi (Marcondes) and Myziane (Maolida) have made since they have come in. We looked really dangerous every time we attack – we probably could’ve scored three or four goals which is a testament to the squad and the players.”

This will be the second time we’ve faced Ross County this season, with the previous encounter ending 2-2 at Easter Road. The Staggies currently sit 11th in the cinch Premiership, but have picked up four points from their last two matches under Interim Manager, Don Cowie.

“We expect an extremely tough challenge, they played on Tuesday so they have had a day longer to prepare for it. I know Don Cowie really well – I played with him at Cardiff – and I know will have the team really fit, as he was a model pro when he played.

“They fighting for their life and will be a tough nut to crack, they have got goals in the team too. Sometimes these games can be difficult because you are coming off the back of the Derby, but we need to be right mentally, start the game well, and if we play like we did on Wednesday then that will help us win the game.”
