In March 2023, World Athletics announced it would prohibit athletes who have gone through what it called "male puberty" from participating in female world rankings competitions. In an interview with CNN Sport's Amanda Davies, the president of track and field's governing body Sebastian Coe defended his decision, saying had they not acted, no woman would ever win another sporting event.
