Fort Ann woman jailed for unlawful drug distribution

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Danielle Simonson, 52, of Fort Ann, was sentenced to 70 months in prison. Simonson previously admitted to unlawfully prescribing controlled substances to 54 patients between January 2020 and October 2022.

Drugs prescribed included hydrocodone, oxycodone, benzodiazepines, and amphetamines. In one instance, Simonson prescribed oxycodone to residents in Suffolk County without treating them for a medical condition. The two mailed her cash concealed inside DVD cases.

Simonson was imposed a $10,000 fine and ordered to serve two years of post-release supervision. She also reached a civil settlement agreement in a separate case by paying $200,000.
