Xavier Worthy had top odds to run the fastest 40-yard dash before breaking the NFL combine record
Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy broke the NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash record Saturday, completing the drill in a blazing 4.21 seconds.
It was an incredible run that even left NFL players are amazed, ending John Ross’ seven-year reign as the record-holder. As this cool simulcam video shows, Worthy edged Ross’ 2017 time of 4.22 seconds by a hair. But it was far from expected.
DraftKings had +425 odds for the record to be broken, with -650 odds that it would stand. That means Worthy’s run gave a few bettors a good return on their money.

However, though it was unlikely for the record to fall, it was always likely for Worthy to be the one to do it if it did happen. Worthy’s +600 odds to run the fastest 40 this year were second only to Texas Tech’s Tyler Owens, who was unable to complete the drill.

No one else came close to the record. The fastest time after Worthy was a 4.28 by Clemson’s Nate Wiggins.
