Thousands of dollars of equipment stolen from Portland musician

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Portland musician had thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen from his studio space this past weekend.

Collin Hegna, frontman of the Spaghetti Western–themed indie rock band Federale, told KOIN 6 News that seven guitars, two microphones and his studio computer were taken from Revolver Studios, which he co-owns.

The stolen equipment is estimated to be worth $12,000.

"These are the tools I use to make a living, so it really dealt me quite a blow," Hegna said. "I've had things stolen in the past. Some of it I've gotten back and some I haven't. So I'm hopeful, but I'm pretty upset."

Hegna added that, while the financial loss is one thing, he also has a sentimental connection to his instruments, on which you can't put a price.

"They're also things that I'm very emotionally attached to. They're also very specific things," he said. "They're vintage instruments that are, you know, very unique and they have a lot of sentimental value to me beyond their utility as a tool."

He continued, "It's a lifelong pursuit to find these tools and these pieces of artistic expression."

If you want to support Hegna and Federale, they have an upcoming show on April 5 at the Star Theater.

The band also has an album releasing this summer.
