MPSE Golden Reel Awards: Best prediction scores by our Editors and Users

Congratulations to our User Garney for a perfect score of 100% when predicting the 2024 MPSE Golden Reel Awards winners on Sunday night. Our top scorer is actually tied with seven other people at that percentage but has a better point score of 20,000 by using the two Super Bets (500 points each) wisely.

More than 700 people worldwide predicted these champs for the ceremony that took place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Our top User got all six categories correct. The night featured wins by “Oppenheimer” (Best Sound Editing-Dialogue/ADR and Best Sound Editing-Effects/Foley), “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” (Best Animation Sound Editing), “Maestro” (Best Sound Editing-Music) and “32 Sounds” (Best Documentary Sound Editing), plus a surprise victory for “Society of the Snow” (Best Foreign Film Sound Editing).

Use the drop down menu to go to “View Profile,” then look for the links to your “Award Show Scores.” Gold Derby must evaluate each potential winner’s eligibility as per our contest rules. If eligible, the first-place finisher receives a $100 Amazon gift card.

For our 11 Gold Derby Editors predicting, Joyce Eng, Matt Noble, Ray Richmond and I are tied with the best score of 83.33%. Then at 66.67% are Chris Beachum, Charles Bright, Denton Davidson, Marcus James Dixon and Paul Sheehan. And tied at 50.00% are Rob Licuria and Christopher Rosen. See Editors’ scores.

Beyond Eng, Richmond and Rosen, we had five other Experts predicting. Scoring 83.33% are Matt Neglia (Next Best Picture) and Anne Thompson (IndieWire). Then come Clayton Davis (Variety), Tariq Khan (Gold Derby) and Sasha Stone (Awards Daily) at 66.67%. See Experts’ scores.
