TikToker Sean (@offgridsean) shared his trick for keeping invasive plants out of your garden.

“Do this and eliminate weeds from the garden organically and for free,” he captioned his video.

Sean uses “plain old leaves” to keep unwanted growth away.

He referred to them as a “readily available resource that’s free on my property.”

Sean said the leaves will stop weeds from growing around the base of your plants.

“It’ll also help reduce surface evaporation and control the moisture level in your soil,” he said.

There is a third benefit of using leaves in your garden.

“When they break down, it’s gonna add valuable nutrients back into your garden,” he said. “Leaves are a multi-purpose and free resource.”

Some people throw the leaves on top of their garden, but Sean has a different method.

“I like to chop them up fine,” he said.

There’s no need to worry if you don’t have a leaf mulcher.

Sean’s trick is to place the leaves into a bin and use a weed eater to cut them up.

“You got some high-quality leaf mulch,” he said.

In the comments section, Sean said the leaves also help fight the cold.

“It is great cover against frost,” he said.
