WITH spring bringing better weather, everyone is tackling their laundry pile to start hanging the washing out again.

And one woman has revealed there’s a ‘secret’ setting on your washing machine that means even the ‘dry clean only’ items lurking at the bottom of your basket can be done at home.

A cleaning fan revealed the ‘secret’ setting combination she uses for dry clean clothes

Some awkward clothing is listed as dry clean only because it could shrink if washed at too high a temperature or too high a spin speed.

But cleaning expert Hazel Mckinnie, one half of the Wee Scotty Cleaners, has revealed the ideal combination she uses on her washing machine to avoid these issues.

The mum of two, who also runs her own laundrette, said clothes including a three-piece suit “wash up amazingly” with her hack.

In a video demonstating the wash cycle, she said: “I am just going to show you one of these settings on this machine.

“It’s a Beko. I have had lots of expensive washing machines and I love Beko.

“Even our service engineer who services our machines says Beko is the best.”

She added: “So anyway, I am using the delicate [cycle]. Who knew that you could put your suit trousers in?

“I’ve got a suit jacket and I’ve got a men’s three-piece suit. This says dry clean only but I’m going to show you a wee trick.

“I’ve put in a Fairy pod in there. I’m going to close that over and switch that on. That’s just giving me an 800 spin, and that’s all I want.”

Sharing the results of her delicate and slow setting, she concluded: “The wash is finished and the clothes have washed up amazingly.

“Now all we have to do is hang them in a warm room.”

Cleaning fans appeared to enjoy the hack as Hazel’s clip racked up more than 70,000 views.

“I have this machine and always use delicate, love the Beko”, gushed one.

A second wrote: “I use my delicate cycle all the time it goes to 60C whites wash then I do 40C colour wash.”

Meanwhile, a third offered their own tip as they added: “You can also get dry clean sheets that you pop into tumble dryer with garment to clean.”

Elsewhere, a cleaning whizz has revealed the secret button in the washing machine that stops your clothes from smelling musty.

Mindy McKnight discovered a hidden part of the washing machine that makes it 10 times easier to clean out and shared her hack in a video.

Opening the drawer as the clip started, she first questioned viewers: “Ever wondered what the push button on your washing machine is for?”

Pushing it down, she then revealed that the tray slid all the way out.

She then moved it into her sink, where she gave it a deep clean, ensuring she got into every crevice of the compartment.

“You can come over here and scrub it and get rid of all the residual mould and mildew and build up from softener,” she explained.

Without the mould and mildew, clothes won’t smell musty and gross.
