Ninja shares the definitive way to clean your grubby air fryer using two products – but it divides some foodies
CLEANING the air fryer after a messy dinner is the bugbear of every domestic chef – especially when you’ve left it a little too long and the food starts to congeal.
And it’s hard to know exactly how you should be cleaning yours, especially when people even disagree with the recommendations of experts.
Home appliance brand Ninja, which has one of the best-selling air fryers in the country, shared its hack for a gleaming gadget after dinner.
But people have been quick to suggest it will “bugger” the inside of your device.
Ninja enlisted the help of content creator Ciara, who goes by The Tummy Fairy on social media, to showcase its recommended way of cleaning your air fryer.
She dubbed it “a safe and easy way” to get any grime off in a TikTok video.
“Just put in a squirt of washing up liquid and a quarter cup of baking soda,” Ciara instructed.
“You’re going to fill that right up with boiling water, up to the top, and we’re gonna leave it for 20 minutes.
“Then, pour it all out, rinse it with warm water, dry it with a paper towel and there you go.
“It’s like brand new.”
However, a number of Brits were quick to slam the hack in the comments of Ninja and Ciara’s video – with some even saying it ruined their kitchen device.
“Do not do this,” one warned.
“It buggers the air fryer.
“Bad advice.”
“No, this absolutely ruins it over time,” another echoed.
“I learned from experience – especially if it has screws inside.”
Some reported that “chips of paint” would start flicking off the trays as a result of the baking soda.
Ninja penned in the caption of the video that “there’s nothing wrong with a touch of washing up liquid”.
“But baking soda does the trick for stubborn grease,” its social team explained.
“Especially when someone forgets to clean it afterwards.”
Fabulous reached out to Ninja to confirm if this is the best way to clean air fryer trays.
