Tottenham star’s father says his son ‘has the trust’ of Ange Postecoglou
Pape Matar Sarr’s father claims the midfielder has the trust of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, despite being just 21 years of age.
While Sarr did put in some fantastic performances last season, including a memorable showing at the San Siro, he is arguably having is breakthrough campaign this time around.
The Senegalese international has been a regular in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield three ever since the former Celtic manager stepped foot through the Hotspur Way doors.
Pape Matar Sarr has been a regular for Tottenham this season
Sarr has played a total of 22 times in the Premier League this season and has even added three goals and two assists to his game which has been invaluable as Spurs look to spread Harry Kane’s missing goals throughout the rest of the team (TransferMarkt).
Sarr’s father has now opened up on the process he has undergone over the past 24 months, swapping Metz for Tottenham Hotspur and the Premier League at such a young age.
It appears Sidath Sarr has no doubts that his son has a lot of room for improvement and is keen to keep his feet on the ground over the coming months and years.
Pape Matar Sarr has room to get even better
He told Wiw Sport: “I encourage him and congratulate him, while continuing to pray for him, because it wasn’t easy when he left Metz for Tottenham.
“As a parent and former sportsman, I give him advice, and now we can see the season he is having. It’s possible that the patience he showed last year helped put him where he is today. What’s more, he has the trust of his new coach.
“I tell myself that Pape hasn’t yet shown his true worth; he still has a lot of room for improvement, and God has put him on the right track. So my advice to him is not to be in too much of a hurry.
“Football is difficult, and fortunately, he hasn’t jumped the gun. He went through the youth teams and then the Senegal first team. All we ask is that he doesn’t get ahead of himself.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
Postecoglou is the perfect manager for Sarr to grow under at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium because he fits perfectly into that three-man midfield. It really shows off his best skills, his quality on the ball and his engine out of possession. I agree with Papa Sarr here, he can only get better!
