Pirates No. 1 pick Paul Skenes to start season in minors

Paul Skenes, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2023 MLB Draft, will start the season in the Pittsburgh Pirates' farm system, general manager Ben Cherington told reporters Tuesday in Bradenton, Fla.

Cherington said Skenes still has some things to work on, including adapting to a major league season schedule. He did not say whether the right-hander will start the season at Triple-
