Fire caused by candle burns building near Highway 26, hospitalizes 1

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Fire crews responded to a blaze off Highway 26 after the building’s occupants used a candle while the power was out late Monday night.

Clackamas officials say they arrived to the building east of Sandy just before midnight and found the people inside had made it out alive. One person needed to be taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

According to investigators, the fire started was started by a candle that had “been in use due to no power in the building.”
