Bonnet House goes Hawaiian with new Orchid & Garden Festival luau; ticket info here
This is “Small Bites,” a South Florida Sun Sentinel feature with tiny tidbits on the food and beverage scene — because we know that sometimes you just don’t have room for a long article. You want a little news brief instead, an amuse bouche of information, if you will. Enjoy!
WHAT:
Bonnet House, the beloved historic mansion near Fort Lauderdale’s beach, has added a Hawaiian twist to one of its largest fundraisers.
Guests at the 15th annual International Orchid & Garden Festival, set in April, can peruse and purchase colorful and fragrant orchids, tropical plants, herbs and fruit trees. This year, they can also enjoy a luau on the veranda, for an extra charge.
The new Tropical Luau Lunch will feature live Tahitian music, hula dancers, unlimited mai tais, mimosas, beer and wine.
WHEN:
Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7.
WHERE:
Head to Bonnet House, 900 N. Birch Road, Fort Lauderdale.
COST:
The lunch costs $100, which includes the $15 festival admission.
THE MENU:
- Lunch includes slow-roasted BBQ pork, teriyaki and rum pineapple-soaked chicken kebab, vegetable fried rice, Caribbean salad and Bimini bread.
- For dessert, there will be coconut cake and creamy Caribbean rice pudding with raisins.
