I bought a $9 ‘Botox’ dupe to smooth my wrinkles – people say their 11 lines ‘are practically nonexistent’ from using it
AN anti-aging fan has cracked the code to turning back the clock without shelling out for pricy cosmetic procedures.
He said his go-to skincare product is comparable to Botox and took care of his wrinkles.
Kin Wa Wu (@skincare.ninja) of Los Angeles, California filmed himself discussing the staple in a video on TikTok.
“Trying $9 Botox dupe to smooth my nasolabial folds and 11 lines,” read the text.
Nasolabial folds refer to the skin around the nose that can become more pronounced with age, while 11 lines refer to the wrinkles that can occur between the eyebrows.
Wu used the Argireline 10% Solution, which sells for $9.70 on The Ordinary’s website.
He described it as “#BotoxInABottle” and a “#BotoxDupe” in the caption.
Wu also cited a study, stating that Argireline is a safer alternative to Botox.
“Wrinkles can have a negative effect on quality of life and Botox is one of the most effective and common treatments,” the study reads.
“Argireline (Arg0), a mimetic of Botox, has been found to be safer than Botox and effective in reducing wrinkles, with efficacies up to 48% upon four weeks of twice daily treatment.”
The video drew in many viewers who shared their own experience with anti-aging skincare.
“I’ve used this for months now and my 11 lines are practically nonexistent even when I do try to burrow my brows. I use this and the Matrixyl together,” one wrote.
“I can honestly say I used the Argireline one and my forehead lines disappeared,” another added. “People kept saying I had Botox and didn’t believe me when I said I hadn’t.”
“I use this to help make my Botox last longer. Love it,” a third commented. “Doesn’t help my forehead, but other areas it does.”
“Yes, but it took me a bottle and a half to see dramatic results,” yet another wrote. “But still better than injections for me.”
“So did it work?” one more said.
“I don’t know. I need to test it for three months to review it properly,” Wu replied.
