I made my own bougie West Elm candle dupe – it was super easy and affordable, it’s giving luxury lifestyle but DIY
HIGH-END home decor can help to elevate your space but it can be pretty pricey.
One woman used a simple DIY hack to create her own luxury candle using budget items.
In her video, Mariah Somah (@somahriah) demonstrated each step of the process.
The TikToker created a homemade version of the West Elm Wood Filled Candle.
“I upcycled this wooden bowl into a bougie candle that completely fits my aesthetic,” she told her followers.
Mariah shared her surprise at how “super easy and affordable” the DIY decor was to make.
She began by picking up all the candle-making equipment she needed.
For her first step, Mariah melted a bag of wax in a tin over boiling water.
“After arranging my wicks, I slowly pour the wax into my wooden bowl,” she said.
After waiting several hours for the wax to dry, Mariah trimmed the wicks.
“[I] just stood back to admire my work,” she said as she showed viewers the finished product.
“I don’t plan on burning this candle because it’s just for aesthetics but I did that.”
Mariah displayed the homemade West Elm candle dupe on the coffee table in her home.
“Even though it has a few imperfections, I just can’t believe I did that,” she told her audience.
Mariah said her homemade candle was “giving luxury lifestyle but DIY.”
Her followers shared their thoughts on the West Elm dupe in the comments section.
“Nice! You can get the imperfections out of the wax with a heat gun or hairdryer,” suggested one viewer.
“Love this kinda content!” wrote another impressed TikTok user.
“Come make one for me,” commented a third person.
