Don’t believe you can’t wear setting powder just because you’re ‘old’ – I’m 55 and my method doesn’t play up wrinkles
SETTING powder is great for holding your makeup in place but it can also emphasize your fine lines and wrinkles.
A beauty fan showed her followers the quick trick she uses to keep her skin looking smooth after adding the finishing touch.
In her video, Cherie Seaswan (@seaswan6) responded to one of her TikTok followers, who said she was told she shouldn’t use setting powder on her mature skin.
“She’s been told that because she’s older, she can’t wear setting powder, no ma’am, we can set under our eyes,” the TikToker said.
“As we age, our under-eyes are really going to show a lot of age in the way of texture, fine lines, wrinkles.”
Cherie explained that under your eyes is an area you should “be a little bit cautious with” when applying makeup.
“I have oily skin, setting for me is not an option,” she explained to her audience.
“I have to set but what I do is I set very lightly, I never use a puff, I always use a brush.”
Cherie used an eyeshadow blending brush to demonstrate to her followers.
“Take this powder, tap off, lightly set under the eyes,” she said as she applied the powder.
“That’s how we set 55-year-old under-eyes.”
She recommended the light layering method for anyone with a mature complexion.
Her followers shared their thoughts on the technique in the comments section.
“Thank you, dear! My under-eyes are so dry and I can’t seem to find the right things to work,” wrote one viewer.
“Mine ALWAYS shows my wrinkles,” said another impressed TikTok user.
“That’s right, chef’s kiss,” commented a third person.
