‘Come on writers!’ beg Emmerdale fans as they demand ‘happily ever after’ for long-suffering character
EMMERDALE fans have begged the show’s writers to give a long-suffering character a ‘happily ever after’.
The ITV soap recently saw Vanessa Woodfield return to the village after a year away in Canada.
She immediately reconnected with former lover Suzy Merton, despite Suzy and Mary Goskirk growing close in recent weeks.
On Wednesday, Mary failed to tell Suzy how she really felt when she asked her, after hearing Vanessa gush over her earlier in the episode.
Last night, Vanessa and Suzy shared a kiss, but it wasn’t long before Suzy was glancing over at Mary in a way that left Emmerdale viewers screaming for bosses to give the pub cook a happy ending.
Mary hasn’t had the best few months, having been conned by former love interest Faye Helders and left embarrassed after she shared compromising pictures of her around the village.
She has also had to deal with daughter Rhona’s on-going drama with her ex-partner Gus over baby Ivy, which has been stressful for the whole family.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – Emmerdale fans discussed the love triangle between the three women.
One wrote: “Is it just me or does anybody else think that Vanessa and Suzy are just cringe?”
Another replied: “The fact that Suzy had just kissed Vanessa then immediately was making heart eyes at Mary. She needs to sort this out before everyone gets hurt.”
The original poster replied: “And I don’t want it to be Mary, bless her she deserves some happiness. C’mon #emmerdale writers, Mary deserves a happy ever after.”
Meanwhile another fan wrote: “I don’t cringe but all my sympathy is with Mary.”
A fellow viewer demanded: “WILL SOMEONE PLEASE KISS MARY GOSKIRK????? Suzy Merton, I’m looking at you. Leave Vanessa alone and get on that. Cheers.”
Another shared: “#Emmerdale really hitting notes for me right now. The show just feels more electric. Community-driven, stories crossing over etc.
“Caleb was brutal this evening. The Dingles dynamics are great. Lovely to see Charity making progress. Poor Mary, just let her be happy!”
