Powell: We'll Take Positives
Midfielder Naomi Powell said the team’s ‘fighting spirit’ was evident to see, despite our 6-2 loss to Rangers in the Scottish Cup.
Hibernian equalised twice through Poppy Lawson and Shannon McGregor, but 4 second half goals from the away side means the Hibee’s exit the Scottish Cup at the quarter-final stage.
On the match, Powell said that the team could take plenty of positives from the first half.
“It was good to come back each time, that show’s our fighting spirit. We’re just a bit disappointed with the result, especially at end in the second half.
“We’ll take some of those positives including the fighting spirit when we come back.”
As corner taker, Powell notched up another assist, as she guided the ball towards Poppy Lawson for Hib’s first goal.
“We obviously work on those every week, I personally work on them all the time, I take great pride in taking those moments.
“I do what I can for the team, whatever that may be. I take pride in working hard. Being switched on throughout the whole ninety-minutes is something we worked on. Kudus to Shannon and Ellis in the midfield, as we all backed each other.”
With a third home game in as many weeks next up on the agenda, Powell said the team will be looking to build upon last season's showing in the post split campaign.
“This next round of games is massive for us. The aim now is to build on and improve, ultimately getting as many points from the split as we can and end the season on a high note.”
