0

The National Weather Service is warning of powerful and potentially “damaging” winds in Connecticut on Monday that could blow over trees and power lines, causing power outages.

A high wind watch is in effect from Monday morning through Monday night, with northeast winds expected to reach about 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, the weather service said.

The wind watch is in effect for parts of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.

Widespread power outages are possible, the weather service warned, and travel may be difficult.

On Monday, skies are expected to be sunny with a high temperature near 55 degrees, dropping to a low of about 35 degrees in the evening with some clouds, according to the NWS.
