Italian restaurant moving locations in Greene County

CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Dara and Jeremy Ellenbogen, the owners of Piccolo Trattoria at 601 Main Street in Catskill, had been looking for a new location since August 2023. They've now found that new space.

Piccolo Trattoria is set to move into the former Murphy's Law Public House at 1147 Main Street in Leeds. The restaurant will stay open at its current location through April 30 and officially open in the new space on May 1, said the owners.

Murphy's Law Public House closed at the beginning of January for a winter break and was slated to reopen at the end of the month. However, the Murphy family announced in mid-January that they would not be reopening.

The Murphy family opened Murphy’s Law Public House in 2019. They own the building which also includes a hotel, laundromat, and other commercial spaces.

The Ellenbogens became the new owners of Piccolo in July 2023 after the former chef, Rodrigo Silva, passed away. The owners later changed the restaurant name from Piccolo Dal Torrente to Piccolo Trattoria.

With the move, the Piccolo owners said they'll have two private event spaces: one that can hold 20 guests and one that can hold up to 75. The new space also has an outdoor patio and fire pit for dining outside in the nicer weather, as well as a newly paved parking lot. Piccolo will also be revamping its in-house catering menu.

"What isn't changing? Our existing menu and pricing, the exceptional level of service you receive, and the food you've come to know and love," said the owners.
