13-year-old boy, multiple dogs die in Roseburg fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 13-year-old boy is dead after he was discovered passed out in a burning, multi-family residence in Roseburg Monday night, authorities say.
Crews responded to a residential fire at 2316 W Harvard Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. and found “heavy fire coming from the second and third floors.” Residents told officials that a young boy was inside.
Firefighters found the boy on the second floor and removed him through the window, but say that he was pronounced deceased shortly later at a hospital.
Two other people were also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and crewmembers say they found multiple dogs that were killed in the fire.
The building was extinguished but was left with structural, smoke, and water damage. The cause of the fire is unknown, but fire officials say an investigation is ongoing.
