Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized the importance of environmentally sustainable elections, instructing the poll machinery and political parties to partner with local waste management facilities, use double-sided printing, and reduce carbon footprint. The commission's efforts aim to ensure a sustainable election process, with polling for 543 Lok Sabha seats scheduled in seven phases starting April 19.
