West Springfield man found guilty of illegal firearm possession
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- William Hennessey, 31, of West Springfield, was found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm. The charge stems from a road rage incident on May 7, 2020, involving a minivan and a truck.
According to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, a truck allegedly forced a minivan to the side of the road. Hennessey was a passenger in the minivan. Later that day, the passengers of the minivan spotted the same truck at a convenience store parking lot.
The driver of the minivan reportedly tried to block the truck to get a picture of the license plate. The truck was able to get by the van and rammed into the van. Hennessey reportedly shot at the truck, shattering the back window.
Hennessey reportedly abandoned the gun and fled. Pittsfield Police were able to recover the gun the next day. The truck driver was unharmed.
Hennessey will be sentenced on March 21. The jury found him not guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon.
