I asked my Instacart shopper for one piece of ginger root – his choice was so bad, I want a petition to ban him

AN Instacart customer was ready to have her shopper fired after he picked an unsanctioned substitution for one piece of ginger root.

She said his food choice was so bad that she was ready to start a petition so he would be banned.

TikToker Vivian Dluong (@viviandluong) was not happy when she received her grocery delivery.

She said she had specifically asked for ginger root.

Instead, the shopper packed multiple bags of ginger powder.

“Petition to ban men from Instacart unless they take an incompetence test,” she wrote.

“The cost was $2. He got $16 worth of ground ginger,” she continued. “I don’t know how we got here.”

Based on the comments section, it seems that Vivian isn’t the only one who has had a less-than-stellar experience with a shopper.

Some people wrote that shoppers should be evaluated before they’re hired.

“They should really make people take some kind of aptitude test before they work for shopping apps,” reads one popular comment.

At least Vivian received something. A different commenter said there was a shopper who was too shy to pack feminine hygiene products.

“Did you see the girl who asked the shopper guy to get a tampon and he didn’t get it bc he was ‘too embarrassed’ to get it,” the user asked.

A different customer might have lost some sleep over their shopper’s mixup.

“I got sleeping pills once and they were out so he replaced them with caffeine pills,” a TikToker posted.

A social media user in the comment section said they received the correct item, just way too many of the same item.

“I legit asked for one bundle of six bananas and he brought six bundles of five bananas,” the person explained.

“That’s just foul,” Vivan answered. “How does one even finish 30 bananas.”

One viewer said the shoppers do it on purpose to make more money.

“I swear they do it so the total cost goes way up to try and get a bigger % tip,” a commenter wrote.

Instacart is a grocery delivery company that was founded in 2012.

You can also shop at nearby pharmacies, pet stores, liquor stores, convenience stores, and bulk warehouses.

Instacart’s delivery fees start at $3.99.

But if you purchase Instacart+ for $99, delivery fees are waived on purchases over $35 for the year.

Additionally, the service fee is reduced to 2% per order.

According to Instacart, their members save an average of $7 on each delivery.
