Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper’s poignant 3-word message on moment that ‘changed everything’ revealed in film
KATE Garraway’s husband Derek Draper wrote a three-word message on the moment that “changed everything”.
Derek, 56, became known as the nation’s longest-suffering Covid patient and sadly died in January after a four-year ordeal.
A new film capturing the final year of Derek’s life will now air on ITV on March 26 – sharing his story through “his own words”.
In a newly released clip ahead of it being shown next week, Derek said: “I am Derek Draper. I want people to hear my story.”
In the video, the former lobbyist is laid up in a hospital bed with devoted wife Kate by his side.
Kate said: “You’ve written ‘Covid changed everything’. Do you mean that for you?”
Derek replied: “Yes.”
Kate added: “When is this story going to end?”
