Environmental police investigating report of firearm being displayed in CT state park
State authorities are investigating after someone allegedly brandished a firearm in a state park in Hamden on Monday afternoon.
Officers with the Environmental Conservation Police received the report around 1 p.m. that an individual displayed a gun in Sleeping Giant State Park, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
EnCon police believe the individual later left the park, as a sweep of the grounds turned no suspects, DEEP said.
“We continue to believe there is no threat to the public, and the park remains open,” said Paul Copleman, a spokesperson for DEEP.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact EnCon Officer Jacquo at 860-424-3333.
