OKC Parks' kick off events focusing on bees and tree classes

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahomans looking to burn some calories can look forward to Oklahoma City Parks Recreation host of activities set to focus on the bees and the trees.

The Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center is hosting Body Burn on March 22 at 7:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. to get your heart rate up. Participants can expect this 16 and up workout class to combine bodyweight and free-weight exercises to help boost your strength and endurance. The class can be modified to each person’s fitness level, according to City Park and Recreational coordinators.

Mason Bees and Their Hotels

Will Rogers Gardens is hosting an event called Mason Bees and Their Hotels on March 23 at 10 a.m. Children and adults can help pollinate the plants and vegetables in your backyard with a Mason Bee Hotel. These hotels are artificial nesting structures designed to attract pollinators. By giving pollinators a protected place to lay eggs, hatch larvae and grow into beautiful butterflies, they help pollinate vegetation within your yard and neighborhood.

Fun in the Trees

Here’s your chance to find out how arborists safely climb around in treetops,. Will Rogers Gardens is holding its Fun in the Trees class on March 23 at 10 a.m. You’ll learn basics and then get harnessed up and into the old Oak in the Park.

Registration required. $10 per participant, and registration ends on March 23. Climbers 7-17 are welcome. Register online here.

Easter on the Green

Don't forget the Easter Bunny is coming to Will Rogers Gardens!

Bring your loved ones out on March 30 at 9:30 and 11 a.m. for an Easter Egg Hunt in the Color Garden. There will be crafts in the Conservatory and a designated area for the younger children during each hunt.

Registration is required, and space is limited. $5 per participant and open to children 1-12. Register online here.
