Liam McLeish Signs Contract Extention

Liam joined The Spiders in July 2021 as a midfielder and after being converted into a striking role he has become a frequent goal-scorer for Queen’s Park B and a regular in the first team squad.

Liam worked his way back into Championship action after a period of absence through injury this season and a first senior goal for the hard-working front man arrived last month against Arbroath.

Fans of the club will long remember his celebration which came before the ball had hit the net against the Red Lichties and prior to signing on the dotted line it was confirmed that Liam was credited with not one but both goals in the B Teams’ 2-1 success at Livingston on Tuesday by the Match Official.

Liam said: “I am delighted to have this contract signed and know that I have a further two years to develop at the club. I have enjoyed my time here and I would like to thank all the coaches I have worked with who have believed in me.”

“I have enjoyed the opportunities I have been given in the First Team and will look to establish myself fully in that squad during the next two seasons.”

Queen’s Park Head Coach Callum Davidson said: “Liam has a great attitude and works hard at his game. We have used him in a number of systems, and he has adapted to them all. I am looking forward to working with him over the next couple of years and seeing how far he can progress.”

Club President Graeme Shields added: “Liam has shown an eye for goal with the B Team and he has scored two hat-tricks for them this season already.”

“He is the second of our home-grown players to sign a new contract this week with Lennon Connolly also agreeing a further two years. These new contracts show how strong the commitment is from Queen’s Park to developing players for our top team from within.”
