Michigan State's A.J. Hoggard began March Madness accidentally wearing his shorts on backwards

The first game of March Madness began with a funny twist for Michigan State senior guard A.J. Hoggard.

During the first half of the opening matchup between the Spartans and Mississippi State on Thursday afternoon, the 6-foot-3 senior was spotted wearing his shorts the wrong way. Even though he was able to fix it shortly after, it didn’t take long for fans to notice the mistake.

This isn’t the first time that we have seen a basketball player wearing his shorts on backwards, though.

For example, former Oklahoma State player Doug Gottlieb once played eight minutes of a college basketball game with his shorts on backwards. Meanwhile, during this NBA preseason, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown entered the game with a similar predicament.

Maybe it wasn’t an ideal start for Hoggard, but if it turns into a win in March Madness, perhaps he can turn this into a superstitious tradition.
