1 killed, 2 injured after minivan crashes into tow truck on I-695 in SW Baltimore County
One person was killed, and two were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Interstate 695 in southwest Baltimore County, causing two lanes of the outer loop to close temporarily.
Around 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, troopers from the Maryland State Police responded to the area of the outer loop I-695 in the area of Wilkens Avenue for a two-vehicle crash on the left shoulder, said Ron Snyder, a Maryland State Police spokesperson.
When they arrived, there were no injuries, and two truck operators were en route to assist in removing the vehicles, Snyder said.

Troopers left the scene to investigate reports of a single-vehicle crash on the inner loop in the same area, Snyder said. During the investigation, troopers received reports around 8:30 a.m. that while the tow truck was on scene with the initial outer loop crash, a minivan spun out and hit the tow truck, Snyder said.
The passenger of the minivan was pronounced dead on the scene by Baltimore County emergency medical services personnel, Snyder said.
The drivers of the minivan and tow truck were transported by ambulance for treatment of their injuries.
The outer loop of I-695 at Wilkins Avenue reopened after noon. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation.
