Outsized strenghts and big flaws
I think we all knew this was a team with flaws. We definitely had our chances -- including missing 3 3's in a row that were halfway down that would have made it a whole different ballgame at the start of the 2nd half.
Arizona is really athletic and exploited our weaknesses, while we didn't come through on our strengths.
Outsized team strengths:
Shooting 3's - but we were 7/24
FG% - but we shot 41%
Defense - held them to 78 points
Grit - which we showed today in spades
Big flaws:
Weak in the middle - outrebounded 31-23, Holmes lost the ball a bunch of times
Small guards - could not handle their guard strength
Thin bench - we looked tired
Offense predicated on 3's and Holmes, no driving - Elvis and Cheeks got a couple buckets but not enough
I think we all knew this isn't a complete team, but I'm proud of their effort all year long to overcome the shortcomings they had.
