GCSO: Hillsdale man accused of altering town payroll records

ATHENS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Hillsdale man has been arrested following a financial crime investigation, according to the Greene County Sheriff's Office. Donald Pierro, 70, is facing multiple charges.

The sheriff's office received a complaint on March 18 reporting a possible theft from the Town of Athens. The investigation determined that Pierro allegedly altered town payroll records in order to benefit himself.

Pierro was charged with third-degree attempted grand larceny, falsify business records and official misconduct. He was arraigned at the Town of Athens Court before being released on his own recognizance.
