The Congress party has been issued a notice of around Rs 1,700 crore by the Income Tax department, adding to its financial worries before the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as per a report from TOI on Friday. This action follows the rejection of the party's appeal against reassessment proceedings for four assessment years by the Delhi High Court. The newly imposed demand relates to assessment years 2017-18 to 2020-21, encompassing penalties and interest.
