Gavin and Stacey fans fear for show future after two main stars spark feud rumours with vicious swipe
GAVIN and Stacey star Mathew Horne has sparked rumours he could be in a secret feud with co-star Joanna Page after wading into an online fight against her.
On Thursday, Joanna – who plays bubbly blonde Stacey on the beloved BBC favourite – went viral after slating new BBC3 sitcom, Things You Should’ve Done, on her podcast Off The Telly.

But Joanna savagely told co-host Natalie Cassidy “the thing she should’ve done is not bothered to f**king watch it” before repeatedly branding the show “unbearable” and “s**t”.
However, after a reaction video from Chi went viral, Joanna’s co-star Mathew – who plays her on-screen husband Gavin – jumped to the defence of the upcoming star.
Sharing a post from Chi announcing the release of the series, he wrote in a now deleted post: “The best thing on TV right now. A genius is born.”
Chi responded: “Love you Gavlar” as fans credited Mathew for backing her up in the argument.
But others thought it could’ve been emblematic of a behind-the-scenes row we weren’t aware of.

On the podcast, while Eastenders star Natalie tried to bring some levity to the situation, calling the new show “Marmite”, Joanna said: “I think she’s obviously talented, I thought the show was s**t, and I don’t often think that.”
While she credited Chi for creating a show, she added: “I thoguht it was unbearable. It’s not often like that I can’t watch something, I was so bored. I was so bored.”
She added her “mother could’ve written it”.
In response, Chi played the clip over a video of her sitting down and reacting to the comments, looking comically unimpressed while eating a banana.
She then goes to her framed Gavin and Stacey cast poster, before putting a post-it over Joanna’s face as Stacey with the word ‘bald’ in reference to her repeated use of the word ‘bored’.
Dozens of celebrity comedians and industry stars have since come out in support of her.
Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee wrote: “What a genius response. This is why we love you xxx”
Strictly star Layton Williams added: “Free PR lols coz I watched the 1st ep yesterday and loved it! Congrats”
“Flippin love you @chiwithaC” added Tamzin Outhwaite.
