Taiwan says 70 workers are trapped in rock quarries after devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake

Seventy workers are trapped in a pair of rock quarries after a massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.

The earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Taiwan on Wednesday, disrupting the morning rush hour and toppling buildings in the biggest quake to hit the country in 25 years.

The Taiwanese fire authority says in addition to the trapped workers, at least nine people have been killed, the AP reported.

It's unclear how the workers became trapped or how they will need to be rescued.
