MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A man is wanted for a knife-point attempted robbery on the subway in Manhattan, police said Wednesday.

The incident occurred on a southbound No. 2 train at the 96th Street subway station on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

The suspect approached the 48-year-old male victim and displayed a knife, according to authorities. He then allegedly demanded money, said an anti-Hispanic slur, and told the victim to "go back to your country" before fleeing on foot, police said.

Police described the suspect as about 5'9'' with a medium build, police said. He was last seen wearing a yellow jacket, dark-colored pants, a green t-shirt, and multi-colored sneakers.
